Community Officers

"Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others." — Philippians 2:4

Leading with Heart—Locally and Globally

At Harworth Church of England Academy, leadership begins in the classroom and reaches far beyond our school gates. Our Community Officers—a team of passionate and responsible pupils—play a vital role in shaping a caring, inclusive school environment while building bridges with communities across the world.

Who Are Our Community Officers?

Our Community Officers are pupils who demonstrate empathy, initiative, and a commitment to making a difference. They:

  • Promote kindness and respect across the school
  • Support younger pupils during playtimes and transitions
  • Help organise charity events and awareness campaigns
  • Represent Harworth CE Academy in community outreach projects

These young leaders are role models in action—showing that age is no barrier to impact.

Our Global Link: The King's Village, Ghana

One of the most meaningful parts of our Community Officers’ work is our ongoing partnership with The King's Village in Northern Ghana — a community development project transforming lives through education, healthcare, and clean water initiatives.

  • We sponsor a young girl named Nashiratu, one of triplets, who attends school at The King's Village
  • Pupils regularly write letters, send gifts, and share videos with Nashiratu and her classmates
  • In Collective Worship, we reflect on life in Ghana, sing songs like “My God is Good”, and learn about the culture, flag, and geography of the region

This connection reminds us that compassion knows no borders—and that our actions here in Harworth can ripple across continents. Click here to visit our King's Village page.

Learning Through Service

Our Community Officers help the whole school engage with global citizenship. Through Collective Worships, classroom projects, and fundraising efforts, they encourage others to:

  • Understand the challenges faced by children in different parts of the world
  • Celebrate cultural diversity and shared values
  • Take action to support those in need

Whether it's organising a non-uniform day for Nashiratu’s school or singing at Brailsford House, our pupils are learning that leadership means service—and that every small act of kindness matters.

Stay Connected

We’re extremely proud of our Community Officers and the example they set. To learn more about our partnership with The King's Village, click here or explore The King's Village official site.

Community Officer Meetings

October 2025

Our Community Officers had their first meeting of this academic year. They decided to write a letter to the local library to thank them for providing amazing visits for every class throughout this half term. They also discussed further fundraising for Nashiratu. They voted to hold a colouring competition of the Ghanian flag in the Spring Term and a sponsored walk, walking the distance Nashiratu travels to school everyday, in the Summer Term. They also chose different people to take part in Collective Worship by reading The King's Village Prayer at the end of worship. Well done Community Officers - a productive meeting.
